Shine Ireland in association with Aspect and BNY Mellon are pleased to announce the launch of the “Preparing for the Workplace” programme for students in third level institutions on the ASD Spectrum. The programme is designed to assist these students in accessing the employment market after graduation. The programme is a step by step guide to help students in preparing for an interview, participating in the interview process to give them the best opportunity to secure a position thereafter. The programme was funded by BNY Mellon who have an operation in the Cork Airport Business Park.
The programme was devised as a result of a consultation process and series of focus group sessions involving current students with ASD in Third Level Institutions. Laura Crowley from Shine Ireland with the invaluable assistance of Carol Sheehan and Yvonne Scriven from the Aspect Service (Cork Association for Autism) designed this structured programme for the students. The Preparing for the Workplace programme manuals will be distributed to all 22 Universities and Institutes of Technology in Ireland in the coming days.
Heather Crowley Kerr Managing Director of BNY Mellon (Cork) said: ” BNY Mellon were delighted to be involved in the programme in partnership with Shine Ireland as it fully reflects BNY Mellon’s commitment to supporting social innovation to affect positive change in the communities where their employees live and work. This programme will deliver real opportunities to a group of people with many talents and abilities and allow them to make a real and valuable contribution to their local economies and communities”.
