on a range of topics that will improve the level of experienced
support, i.e. the quality of supports delivered by you and your
team. The series contains a range of interactive learning experiences,
including video clips of best practice in action, that will help
professionals and parents alike design individualised supports
in skill acquisition and behaviour that challenges to mention
but two areas...If
you want to understand how to use ABA instructional programs,
how to break complex tasks into manageable sequences, how to
arrange motivation for individuals, along with a host of other
behavioural skills, this course is your ideal starting point.
Parents:
All of

access to ABA services, this is the ideal compliment
to
those services. If you are still trying to access an ABA service,
this is an ideal start point and it will allow you begin the
'early intervention' that countless studies show is so important

Managing Challenging Behaviour
"Managing Challenging Behaviour " will
be launched online early in 2010 and builds on the skills illustrated
and developed in "First Steps in Behaviour Support".
The five modules illustrate a structured approach to understanding
the reasons for challenging behaviour, offer you a framework to
allow you consider how behaviour that challenges develops, help
you to identify the triggers payoffs and conditions that may lead
to challenging behaviour, introduces you to risk assessment and
a positive view of risk before finally seeking to integrate all
these topics by allowing you cope effectively with behaviour that
challenges by enhancing your supports.
FETAC: This Course
will be FETAC accredited at level 5

Steps in Behaviour Support " is
a course covering a range of topics that will
improve the level of experienced support, i.e. the quality of supports
delivered by you, your family and/or your team. The series contains
a range of interactive learning experiences, including video clips
of best practice in action, that will help professionals and parents
alike design individualised supports in skill acquisition and behaviour
that challenges to mention but two areas... this course is currently
in development and will be available in mid 2010
This course
will be submitted for FETAC accredit ion prior to release.
Course
Consultant & Developer: Dr Ken P. Kerr
Dr Ken P. Kerr is Director of Developing Ability in Partnership,
a cooperative of leading behavioural practitioners working with
children and adults with Autism and Intellectual Disability.Ken extensive experience in supporting individuals with Autism
and Intellectual Disability in school, community and residential
settings.
Previously,
Ken was Regional Services Manager for Children's Autism Service
in Co Mayo, Senior Psychologist/Acting Principal Psychologist
in Co Mayo, Director of Saplings School in Kildare, and Director
of Training of Parents' Education as Autism Therapists in Northern
Ireland.
Ken has
been involved with training parents and supervising home-based
educational programs for many years.His
main research interests include ABA, Precision Teaching, and Early
Intervention for children with autism and positive behaviour
support. He has published widely on ABA and related topics in national
and international journals and has co-edited two books on educational
supports for children with autism.
