With this in mind Travel Focus is launching a new initiative called “Working Together” to provide charitable and voluntary organisations, schools and clubs with a new revenue stream. Of course this is a commercial transaction for Travel Focus but as part of the community that we have served in Cork for the last 10 years we want to help by giving something back to organisations that make a difference locally.

 

Charity Firewalk in Aid of The Shine Centre & Cork Simon

Anthony Reidy Chairman of The Cork Chartered Accountants Association completes his Firewalk.

The Cork Association of Chartered Accountants are held a "Firewalk" to raise funds for the Shine Centre and Cork Simon. This event was truly spectucular with over 50 members of the Chartered Accounts Association and volunteers from Shine & Simon walking barefoot over hot coals.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the event and the Organising Committee from the Chartered Accountants Assoc with particular thanks to Mary Rose Desmond and Anthony Reidy.

Fashion Show In Aid of the Shine Centre

The recent Fashion Show held in aid of the Shine Centre was a great success. Hosted by Dee Kelly Morgan the Centre's Fashion Advisor and Personal Shopper over 80 guests atteded.

Cork Rotary & Bishopstown Rotary Clubs Support The Shine Centre

Kieran Kennedy (CEO of Shine) accepts a cheque from Tom Woodward (Director of The Remembrance Tree Project) with Mr. Noel Somers and Mr. Colin Nicolls Presidents of Bishopstown And Cork Rotary Clubs

The donation to Shine is as a result of the funds raised by the Rotary Tree of Remembrance on Cork's St Patrick's street during December 2010. Tom Woodward of Cork Rotary said how delighted the two Rotary organisations were to support the Shine Centre and very much looks forward to working with Shine in the future. Kieran Kennedy of Shine said that the funds will be used for the expansion of the groundbreaking PALS Life Skills programme and without the help of the rotarians this simply would not be possible.

 

 

Fundraising for Shine:

The Irish Progressive Association for Autism - Shine is a Voluntary Organisation and a Registered Charity. The Shine Centre provides services to over 70 children on a weekly basis through our Early Learning Unit for Pre-school autistic children, the Life Skills and After Schools Programmes and our Mainstream School Support Service. We also work with the parents of our children in the areas of training, parallel learning , an advice line and regular parent meeting and support groups. Hundreds of families have benefited from the support of Shine/IPAA since it was established in 2001. Many of the services that the Shine Centre provides receives no State funding so the organisation relies heavily on our fundraising efforts to cover these costs.
